The neo-Gothic campus of St. Estè University at golden hour beneath Alpine peaks

Founded 1786 · Upper Rhône Valley, Switzerland

Light and knowledge, held to the highest standard.

For nearly two and a half centuries, St. Estè has educated scholars, jurists, physicians, artists and leaders beneath the peaks of the Swiss Alps.

The University

An institution shaped by the valley that surrounds it.

St. Estè University was chartered in 1786 by a consortium of valley families who believed that a serious education belonged in the mountains rather than the capitals. That conviction still governs the university: small cohorts, exacting standards and an unhurried attention to scholarship.

Today the university comprises seven schools and twenty-six degree programmes, taught across a neo-Gothic campus that has been carefully extended with laboratories, studios and performance halls of the first order. Students arrive from ninety-four countries — some from families who have sent generations here, others as the first in their family to attend university at all.
